As part of our Christian obligations to show love and mercy to each other, we are also required to pray for all deceased - parents, friends, benefactors and even our 'enemies'. St Augustine teaches that by praying for the departed, we contribute to the release of those souls who are suffering in Purgatory and help them to get to heaven; if they are on the heaven to help them give thanks for their salvation. |

We share with you the sad tidings that on Wednesday 21st March,2012,in Sydney Rt. Rev. Ivan Szewciw,the former Parish Priest of St. Andrew’s Parish,Sydney,entered Eternal Life at the age of 86. |
A successful day where Ukrainian handcrafts, embroidery, egg painting and cooking took centre stage for a short period of the day. Over 4 hours we had approximately 40-50 people who came to watch the 2 demonstrations and, in the case of the cooking one, to actually make some Varenyky but also to taste. |
With fewer people available to mow the grass around the church, hall and presbytery, we have begun a program of mulching and planting shrubs. Mulching began yesterday and shrubs will be planted in late autumn and winter. |
