Christ is Risen! Truly He has Risen!

We gather together this Easter, to celebrate the Risen Lord, the Resurrection of Christ. We have come with different expectations and backgrounds. Our daily lives differ; our aims and expectations in life are different. There is one thing that is the same.

Mrs Justina Kelo from Murrumbateman, mother to Steven and Peter, mother in law to Susan and Helen, grandmother to fourgrandchildren and grand-grandmother to two grand-grandchildren entered Eternal life on Thursday 12th April 2012 AD.

On the first Sunday after Easter, April 22, 2012, our parish will be conducting the Easter Luncheon. It’s a good opportunity together with your family and friends and all parishioners celebrate the feast of Easter.

This Sunday, April 8, was special for our parish, as Michael Liszczynsky received his First Confession and Solemn Communion.

Mrs Anna Skrybliak entered to the Eternal life on Friday 30th March 2012 AD

As part of our Christian obligations to show love and mercy to each other, we are also required to pray for all deceased - parents, friends, benefactors and even our 'enemies'.  St Augustine teaches that by praying for the departed, we contribute to the release of those souls who are suffering in Purgatory and help them to get to heaven; if they are on the heaven to help them give thanks for their salvation.

Welcome everyone on Sunday, April 1, after Divine Liturgy at 11 in Lyneham to parish hall to watch the movie "The Passion of Christ".

Spilne sviachene (Easter Luncheon) in our parish will be held on Thomas Sunday (the first Sunday after Easter), April 22, 2011 AD, after Divine Liturgy at 11:00 in Canberra. Please note this day in your calendars. More information will be from next week.

If you love to paint Pysanky, or would like to learn how do this come to our parish hall two evenings, 2 and 3 April, from 17:30 to 20:00. Come and enjoy of this wonderful tradition. Let us hold holidays together.

On Sunday, 25 March 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Ukrainian Hall in Queanbeyan, following Divine Liturgy at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Queanbeyan Hromada and the Ukrainian Women’s Association (Oksana Meshko Branch) hosted this year’s Sviato Shevchenka.

On March 16, Patriarch Sviatoslav (Shevchuk), head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, met in a private audience with Pope Benedict XVI in the Apostolic Palace at the Vatican.

We share with you the sad tidings that on Wednesday 21^st March,2012,in Sydney Rt. Rev. Ivan Szewciw,the former Parish Priest of St. Andrew’s Parish,Sydney,entered Eternal Life at the age of 86.

A successful day where Ukrainian handcrafts, embroidery, egg painting and cooking took centre stage for a short period of the day.  Over 4 hours we had approximately 40-50 people who came to watch the 2 demonstrations and, in the case of the cooking one, to actually make some Varenyky but also to taste.

With fewer people available to mow the grass around the church, hall and presbytery, we have begun a program of mulching and planting shrubs.  Mulching began yesterday and shrubs will be planted in late autumn and winter.
