"The best way in which to commemorate the millennium of Christianity in Ukraine is to attempt in all aspects of personal, family, civil and community life to behave according to the norms of Christ’s teachings. Daily, sincere, real Christian behavior on all levels and in all expressions of social life – that is the best and, actually, the only way to successfully celebrate the event of the Baptism of Rus-Ukraine,” assures His Beatitude Lubomyr (Husar), UGCC Archbishop-Emeritus in his article in Ukrainska Pravda. According to the words of His Beatitude Lubomyr, in spite of the fact that we are divided into various confessions – Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant – we all believe in the Holy Trinity, receive Jesus Christ, the Incarnated Son of God, read the same Holy Scripture, and adhere to a common set of God’s teachings. According to His Beatitude Lubomyr, the Baptism of Ukraine, the official acceptance of Christianity as a state religion – is an enormously important event in the life of Kyivan Rus, at that time a mighty state.
