With great sadness, we announce that Mrs Margaret Hirniak passed away yesterday. Her funeral will be held this Friday, 10 February, at 10am at St Volodymyr's Church. May she rest in peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mrs Hirniak's family.

The Mission Days Guidebook is a spiritual pilgrimage to Pentecost. The series of readings and reflections, compiled by the UGCC Council for Evangilization, invites and encourages us to spend some quite time every day with Christ and to pray, together as a family and as a community, for the grace of the Holy Spirit to renew our faith and pour His blessings into our hearts and lives.

Pastoral Letter of His Beautitude Sviatoslav to the youth

His Beatitude Sviatoslav, UGCC Head, is paticipating in Rome in the Annual Plenary Meeting of the Association of Catholic Bishops' Conferences in Europe (CCEE).

From the 17 to the 30 th September, the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church His Beatitude Sviatoslav Shevchuk realized the pastoral visit to Australia. During the time on our continent, he succeeded in visiting  the majority of the parishes of the UGCC in Australia: Perth, Melbourne, Ardeer, Geelong, Adelaide, Woodville, Canberra, Queanbeyan, Sydney and Brisbane.

The Father and the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church His Beatitude Sviatoslav during the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy proclaimed today, September 25, the cathedral of the Holy Prince Volodymyr in Australia's capital Canberra the pilgrimage place for all the faithful Ukrainian Greek Catholics living in Australia.

For nine months Ukrainians, have been on an arduous pilgrimage from post-Soviet fear to freedom and God-given dignity. Traumatized by twentieth century World Wars, brown and red totalitarianism and genocide, they seek a just society and a democratic, European future.

Ever since he was a young boy, Father Nikola wanted to be a priest. On Sunday, 3^rd August, 2014, his dream was fulfilled. Bishop Peter Stasiuk ordained him a priest at Ss Peter and Paul Cathedral at North Melbourne. He is Australia’s newest priest.

On September 7-14, 2014, in Briukhovychi near Lviv, UGCC Synod of Bishops will be held on the topic: “Responsibility for God's Gifts”.

A Christian has no right to be an initiator of murder, because it is always evil. But, in particular, in the military confrontation, a Christian has a responsibility to defend his land and their people in the ways and means proportionate to the attack, said His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Father and Head of the UGCC, answering questions by young people during this year's Ukrainian Youth Pilgrimage to Zarvanytsya.

On Sunday, July 13, 2014, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the Head of the UGCC in Prudentopolis (Brazil), performed the rite of enthronement ofc on Eparch of Diocese of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin. The event took place at the present Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

From 16 of September until 1 October, Australia will host Patriarch Sviatoslav, the Head of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church.

The narrative will be built on the basis of the six parts of the Strategy of the Church by the Year 2020: “A living parish – the place of meeting the living Christ”:

UGCC bishops urge the faithful to continue fasting and to continually pray for peace in Ukraine

The creation of new structures in the Church is a sign that it is actively developing and growing. The creation of a Metropolitanate in Brazil, already the fourth in the last period, testifies to the fact that now our Church has made a significant step in developing its sui juris on these lands. It is a new step toward the affirmation and acknowledgement of the patriarchal dignity of our Church.

Today I address all of you faithful of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, led by your priests and bishops, and invite each one of you to embark together with me on an extraordinary pilgrimage that will last for ten days—from the Ascension to the Descent of the Holy Spirit, Pentecost. We are calling this pilgrimage the Missionary Decade of Days in which we turn the attention of our entire Church towards our common vocation as “missionaries,” that is to say a community ready to share God’s Word of salvation with others.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav Shevchuk has announced that he will visit Australia from September 18-30  2014.  That is for a period of 12 days.  This is not a long visit considering the huge area our church has and all the traveling which will be necessary.

Patriarch Sviatoslav Shevchuk, Head and Father of the Ukrainian Catholic Church, confirmed that he will visit the Australian Eparchy in September 2014. Confirmation letter Bishop Peter Stasiuk received on the 15^th of April, 2014.

On April 29, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Father and Head of UGCC, participated in the canonizations two renowned Roman Bishops of the last century: Pope John XXIII and Pope John Paul II. Concelebrants with His Holiness Father Frances were Prelates of various Eastern Churches, 150 Cardinals and over 700 Bishops.
