 On Friday, January 6 at 5 pm in St, Michael's church (Queanbeyan) will be Great Compline with Lytia. It is special worship on Christmas Eve. Also, all who will come and bring thier own candle will have opportinity take home for Sviat Vechir (Christmas Eve Supper) the Bethlehem fire. Bethlehem Fire of Peace is constantly lit in Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus Christ. Do not confuse it with the Jerusalem fire that ignited at Easter. This fire is a reminiscence of coming to earth of Jesus Christ, which is a symbol of love and peace, liberation from sin. It rescues people from despair and gives strength, hope, and hope. This wonderful pre-Christmas tradition (spread Bethlehem Fire of Peace) launched in 1986, the Austrian Broadcasting Company ORF of Linz. From the very beginning action was planned to support disabled children and all who need care and attention in the pre-Christmas time. And Scouts immediately took this noble cause in their hands. In Ukraine Bethlehem Fire spread members of Plast - National Scout Organization of Ukraine. This year, due to Plast members of Australia we have the opportunity to have this fire here. | |
